I just wanted to tell you about this little gem of a thrift shop I discovered years ago located in the heart of Little Ethiopia. It’s owned by a husband and wife team, Ben and Moji. The minute you walk in you realize its like a big treasure chest, just waiting for your little gem to be discoverd. Being a fashion stylist I am always on the hunt for cool stuff I can use for photo shoots, and this spot has been my go-to for costume and vintage jewelry. Helping Hand has a little something for everyone: antique furniture, paintings, books, jewelry and numerous collectibles. Recently I have been decorating my friends home so I thought I would just pop in and see if I could find a piece or two! My Fab Finds are below:
I found this gold ball which I scored for $100 it looked like something you would see in a home designed by Kelly Wearstler . I decided It would make a perfect light fixture! I plan on taking it to my local lamp shop and wire it for a light and then hang it from a chain. It will be quite a statement piece! As I always say ambiance is everything, and lighting plays a huge part!
I also decided to make a bar area with antique decanters for my friends home. For those who like to host, having your liquor well displayed is a great addition to your home. This was my lucky day, low and behold I found this unique vodka decanter for $65
I couldn’t resist looking at the jewelry for myself and I found these two pieces that look like they are worth some bucks! I can never get enough cold cuffs and my love for the 70’s had me wanting this owl ring! Ring: $25 Bracelet: $30
Thrift’n Tip: Always try to strike a deal! I didn’t pay asking price for any of these pieces, it’s just the nature of the thrift’n game, so don’t be shy!
